UK pub group Marston’s Christmas bookings ahead of last year

(Reuters) -Pub group Marston’s on Tuesday beat annual profit expectations, and said it was heading into the crucial holiday season with Christmas bookings 11% ahead of last year, buoyed by a slate of events expected to drive footfall at its sites.

The British company posted an underlying pretax profit of 72.1 million pounds ($94.54 million) for the year ended September 27, while analysts were expecting 69.9 million pounds, according to a company-compiled consensus.
