NEW DELHI, Nov 7 (Reuters) – India’s fuel demand fell 0.4% in Oct compared with the same month last year.
Consumption of fuel, a proxy for oil demand, totalled 20.17 million metric tons, data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the oil ministry showed.
Sales of gasoline, or petrol, were 7.4% higher from a year earlier at 3.67 million metric tons.
Diesel consumption was down 0.3% and totaled 7.62 million metric tons in Oct.
Cooking gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sales increased 5.6% to 2.87 million metric tons, while naphtha sales fell 23.4% to 0.89 million metric tons.
Sales of bitumen, used for making roads, were 3.0% up, while fuel oil use edged lower 6.1% in Oct.
