Tata Motors names insiders Shailesh Chandra as CEO, Dhiman Gupta as CFO

(Reuters) -India’s Tata Motors on Friday named insiders Shailesh Chandra as managing director and CEO and Dhiman Gupta as chief financial officer, as the carmaker reshapes its top team amid disruption at Jaguar Land Rover.

Chandra will take charge on October 1 for three years, the company said.

He is currently joint managing director for Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles and passenger electric mobility businesses and will continue to lead the electric mobility segment.

The newly appointed CFO, Dhiman Gupta, replaces P.B. Balaji, who the carmaker said in August would become the new CEO of Jaguar Land Rover.

The changes come as the UK government considers financial support for Jaguar Land Rover’s suppliers after Britain’s biggest carmaker extended factory closures until October 1 following a cyberattack that has paralysed operations, leaving smaller suppliers struggling.
